Adventure Overview
Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri
The journey begins with a scenic 8–10 hour drive from Dehradun to Sankri, a quaint village in Uttarkashi district and the base for several treks in the region. The route passes through Mussoorie, lush forests, and the Yamuna and Tons river valleys. Overnight stay is in a guesthouse or homestay in Sankri.
Day 2: Sankri to Puani Garat (via Taluka)
After breakfast, a short drive takes you to Taluka, where the trek begins. The 12 km trek to Puani Garat follows the Supin River through dense pine forests, crossing wooden bridges and small villages like Gangad. Puani Garat is a serene riverside campsite ideal for the first night in the wilderness.
Day 3: Puani Garat to Boslo
The trail from Puani Garat to Boslo continues along the Supin River and gradually ascends through meadows and forest paths. You’ll pass the charming village of Osla, known for its wooden architecture and ancient temple. Boslo is a peaceful alpine campsite offering clear views of surrounding peaks.
Day 4: Boslo to Har Ki Dun & Marinda Tal, return to Boslo
This is the most rewarding day of the trek. A 5 km ascent leads to the breathtaking Har Ki Dun valley, a lush, glacial basin surrounded by towering peaks like Swargarohini. After exploring the valley, you can take a short extension to Marinda Tal, a small glacial lake nearby. Return to Boslo by evening for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Boslo to Puani Garat
Begin your descent, retracing your steps back to Puani Garat. The downward trail offers a different perspective of the landscape, with plenty of opportunities to observe local flora and revisit the village of Osla. Rest overnight at the familiar riverside campsite.
Day 6: Puani Garat to Taluka and Drive to Sankri
Trek back to Taluka along the same forested trail. After reaching Taluka, board a vehicle for the short drive to Sankri. The rest of the day is for relaxation, enjoying local food, and reflecting on the adventure. Overnight stay in Sankri.
Day 7: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun
The final day involves a return drive from Sankri to Dehradun, taking approximately 8–10 hours. The journey through the valleys and mountains concludes your memorable trek to Har Ki Dun.
